Hello!

Thanks for the new thread, Nic!  I hope that your DD's eye surgery goes well and her recovery is uneventful.

This morning at the gym I saw my sister-in-law, who peer-pressured me into the pool.  I'd been wavering between pool and treadmill.  I took a long shower beforehand, didn't use the hot tub, and took another long shower afterward.  At home I took an allergy pill.  I'm a bit itchy now, nothing I can't handle, but signs are still pointing to my being allergic to the chlorine.  Darn it.  Now I need to figure out if any tips I've had will help, and in what combination.  I'm not quite ready to give up yet.

I likely won't work out again until Monday; this is DS's birthday weekend (five years old!) and we're planning on going to some sort of museum on Saturday and then out to a fancy restaurant on Sunday.  Somewhere in there I need to make an ice-cream cake (for us) and a batch of cupcakes (for preschool).

Apparently I'm not joining the eat-healthy folks at the moment.

Today was beautiful- 20*F and sunny!  We had the windows open and cleaned the house, I made soap and have some cabbage and ham soup on.  love.gif

TOMORROW I should be getting my tax refund and ordering a laptop!  Then these short messages won't take me 45 minutes to write and the site will load in less than 20 minutes!!  I am so excited!!  (Sorry for the exclamation mark abuse, I am hyped up!)

No Running lately.  I feel like a loser.   I have no time, but some motivation.  I want to be great, but I am barely covering the basics lately.  Blah.

That should say 20F, not -20F!  :)  It was above zero!

I have been so exhausted all day.  No running happened, but I did spend about 30-45 minutes clearing off the part of the driveway that the plows pushed snow onto.  It was heavy and wet and icy, so hard work.  I consider it good.  I spent the rest of the day doing lots of yearbook stuff.  I am really nearing the end game!  I just have the messages from the 5th graders to do (need to get them first), proof read the stuff I've typed, get my layout order set up, and then print the darn thing out, fill out paperwork and burn discs!  The last part is the only part I'm not too sure about.  But, I'm sure it will work itself out when it needs to be done.  Ugh!  I am so tired!  I worked on this for 4 hours today!

Took a Power Pump class at the Y tonight.  My arms are shaking!

No run for me. greensad.gif A snowstorm appeared out of nowhere, and really picked up just when I needed to go to the Y. If we had been able to go when I got home from training, it would have been fine, but the childcare closes from 2-4, so we had to wait. We made it about a mile in 20+ minutes, and after I saw multiple cars sliding down a hill, I made the very reluctant decision to turn around and come home. That's ok, it's not like I'm training for a marathon or anything. rolleyes.gif

First (real, non-dosage-calculation) exam of the semester tomorrow. I'm not too worried, but I should probably start studying at some point... orngtongue.gif

nemesis ~ 20 and open windows?  You are braver than me.  I huddled inside with soup and tea today.  I couldn't warm up after being out in the wind.

JayGee ~ Sounds awesome!!

Does anyone else have February goals they want to share?

Goals for February:

1.  Prenatal DVD once a week

2.  Yoga 2-3 more times a week

3.  Learn 3 new hoop tricks

4.  Dream of wogging come spring lol.gif

5.  Eat/juice more greens

Hiya!

RM, what is AFM anyways?  FM is forward motion, right? I read that as running or something similar...

Ice blows.  I'm done with it.  I'm ready to start whining about heat and humidity.

About Forward Motion?  I don't know.

I've got to leave in a few minutes for tonight's show.  Anyone have tips on how to stop burping?

Happy February!

Hope you all are staying warm and safe. It is beautiful here, finally above freezing, and a nice change from two days ago when it was below -40 with the windchill. I had to get my car boosted three times and then bought a new battery.

RR - Going great! My knees are feeling all better and I am running more and faster. I did about 5.5 miles of walk/run today.

Goals for Feb. - 1) Finish the hundred pushups/two hundred situps programs and start the pushups one over with real pushups.

                        2) Keep cooking good food for the family. Since DP joined Weight Watchers I've been cooking up a storm of great, healthy food.

I thought AFM was "as for me", but maybe it's different here.

Ugh!  Both Katie and Emily have the flu.  Starting to rethink flu shots in the future. :bag  Here's hoping nobody else catches it!  At least they will now have the weekend to recover.  Abby has two birthday parties this weekend, so I really hope she stays healthy for them.  I don't know what this means in terms of my running schedule for the rest of the week, though.

Ooooh, beautiful new thread!

Still no running for me this week. I need to adjust my sleep/work schedule. I think I'll sign up for the half in May, though. My kids are finally done with the snow and sick days (praise the Lord!) and I'm only slightly behind at work which is a nice change of pace.

Hope the eye surgery goes perfectly. Holding y'all in thought and prayer.

Going to slowly creep to bed now...

Hi Dingos...

I feel guilty for coming by since not only am I not running but lately I am doing a pretty poor job of reading the thread.  But, y'all are in my head and I miss you... I miss running... so here I am to sub at least.  redface.gif

I have a little bit of forward motion to report... the dog has been having a lot of trouble with a suspected pinched nerve.  Although it's not going to be a fix for his problems, he needs to lose some weight, so I have committed to walking him every day.  We are up to .75 mile and on Monday we'll jump up to 1 mile.  C25K for dogs.  He's slower than he used to be so it's not really much in the way of cardio but at least it's something, a start maybe for returning to running someday.

NRR: We spent last week at Disney World which was a lot of fun even though it was not lost on me that I should have been there for the half-marathon.  It was me, the kids, and my sister.  I think the kids had a great time and it was nice to get to spend concentrated time with my sister.  There are pics on FB - she took most of them and some are pretty amazing.

The rest of my life is probably better left to the Yahoo group.  There have been some recent developments.  I'll try to get over there and send a message.

I miss you all... I promise to try to do a better job of keeping up in Feb.

Eks--we're thinking of you.

tjsmama--you made me glad I took the bus to campus. There was some slipping and sliding on the sidewalk when I was slog-jogging to catch the light rail train (the bus was late due to the snow, but I enjoyed being blissfully unaware while knitting) and more slipping on the way from campus to the station.

Heading to the TM shortly. The revised plan calls for 3 miles because tomorrow is supposed to be 50* and I'd rather run 5 outside. They had better not be lying!

eksmom, many hugs.

I'd love to report on how nice it was to make it to ds1's basketball game last night. He really is quite wonderful (for a young teen boy and not at basketball). Some days I wish I'd stopped with him so I could bask in his glory as a good mother. Lots of other things feel like a a slog and bother. My big girl panties are apparently giving me panty lines.

re sore (running) knees - strengthen your butt and legs, try single leg squats

I did weights this morning, I have a longish run on tap for tomorrow and I think I heard 2 inches of snow overnight.

It is cold cold cold here again.  It was my birthday yesterday and I got the best gift ever...an employment offer!  Yay!  I am feeling so relieved!  I will be working at a small community hospital, 2/3rds OB and 1/3 med/surg (due to floating).  A very young baby having population and very low breast feeding rates indicate a lot of work to be done, and a lot of room for positive change!  Yay!

RM: I also always read AFM as something to do with Aunt Flow.  Even though I am pretty sure it means As For Me.

RR: 4 for today planned.

NRR:  Hope everyone sick gets well, the ice melts, and the eye surgery goes smoothly.

Good Morning!!!

tortuga ~ congratulations on the job!

eksmom ~ glad you could pop in.  I'm thinking of you and your family.  Disney sounds like a blast!

mommajb ~ my oldest DS makes me feel the same way.  He's such a great kid.  Those girls...... well, you know!  Oh, and I ate really well yesterday (aside from two Dove chocolate hearts).  No sitting in the pantry eating whatever my hands land on.

RM ~ I'm anal in the other direction!  I can't bring myself to label non-running exercise as "running"!  But for you, I will!

So, today's plan is to take DD2 to gymnastics, come home and ride the trainer for an hour.  Why is it that typing that always makes me think I'm doing illicit things with a trainer..... named Sven!  Maybe I should name my bike Sven.....

Nemesis - I'm envisioning your nice cozy house with soup on the stove eat.gif I really want a new mac laptop as I'm using one that I bought in '03 or '04, but we are SO in debt right now. And it's still functional. I also have a Vaio PC from the same timeframe that is currently killed by a virus and a more recent Acer laptop that is MIA and killed...I guess it would be cheaper to fix what we already have, although if my washing machine is any indicator of our fixing luck, then we'll be out of luck and money. lol.gif Speaking of the washer, there's the infamous failure alarm irked.gif

Gaye - GL on your exam!

eksmom - what kind of dog?

tortuga - YAY on the employment offer! Sounds wonderful!

My goals for this month:
1) Lose another 12 pounds
2) Improve my 5K pace
3) Pick up knitting again - something other than diaper covers
4) Finish studying Biology for the MCAT
5) Do my taxes already!

RR - Expecting a 25 minute run at the gym this afternoon barring DH gets home in time before going to his second job. I'm thinking of doing one of the P90X workout videos too since I like to workout a minimum of an hour. It's the only way I'm going to melt these pesky pounds!

NRR - This website is funky today. None of the smiley faces are working for me shrug.gif

Hi all,

drive by posting.

We are home from the hospital, dd1 did fine although she did not wake up well from the anesthesia and was hysterical crying. Not so easy holding an 80 lb. 10 year old on your lap! LOL

Also before the surgery she was so anxious they gave her some medicine to calm her before she went in. Under the influence she proceeded to tell me she knows 'all the bad words because I go to public school now.' eyesroll.gif lol.gif  Guess everyone has to learn them sometimes. Although she did tell me she doesn't know what they mean and doesn't use them (which I do believe) so all innocence is not yet lost.

Dh finally got home from his travels in snowmaggedon, just as we pulled up from the hospital.

Hoping for a run later. Sunny and 78 today here. duck.gif
