Just another reminder that Wendy and I are not actually the same person. We just play each other on tv.

Pssst.  Look at the post above yours.  I responded about increasing distance vs speed.  ;)  This time (and maybe just this time) the dingo crowd was able to keep us straight. :p

RR: rest day or XT, but I'm resting and cleaning, getting chores done, etc.

marking my place to come back....

LOL. I missed it because you posted within one minute of me. :)

Lori~ welcome!  for food tracking I found "myfitnesspal" app on the iphone and it's super easy.  YOu can use it on the computer as well.  It has helped me to have it with me at all times.  I used sparkpeople online before, but not always around my computer and when I am I don't always remember everything I ate since I was on the computer last.

Good luck!

lorijds, welcome back...I am a bad Dingo these days, so I'm abstaining from advising.

Truth is, I need a lot more running and a lot less eating than I have been doing. My workout schedule isn't bad, but combined with my stress levels and the carbs that have been finding their way into my body, the picture's not pretty here. Inspections were today: house, well, septic. There are things I don't know the answer to and dh is far away, and the kids and I are not doing well on the tail end of a 4-day weekend, and my one functioning snowblower quit on my and the drifts are 4 feet high again...*sigh* I'll do some yoga after chores and before dinner. Need to breathe and remember how little is in my control, and to better control what little I can.

And tomorrow, running at the Y and finishing the taxes.

Welcome back Lori!  Everyone above is right.  Don't worry about speed.  You may also want to check out a method called "Gallowalking" which is where you run an interval and then walk a set interval (I used to do 9min run:1min walk ratio).  If you have a digital watch, you can even set it to go off at the beginning/end of each interval so you don't have to keep checking how long you've been running or walking.  Google Gallowalking or Jeff Galloway for more info.

RR ~ excellent spin class this morning and took the kids to a rock climbing gym in St. Louis this afternoon.

NRR ~ my leg is killing me. Seriously, pain from my upper hamstring radiating down all the way to my ankle.  It sucks.  Luckily, I have an appointment with a new sports medicine specialist next Monday.  Just when I start feeling good and start a good workout schedule, it jumps back out and gets me.  Argh!

Thanks for the dingo advice! I sent a nice email, got a nice email in return, and am planning some running meet-ups! smile.gif

Next up: running between weekends. <cue dramatic music>

lorijds--Welcome! Like the others said, don't worry about speed. Speed on a treadmill isn't the same as speed in a race. (Most of my treadmill runs have been at 5.5 for a few miles, but my recent race was much faster.) I like Daily Mile for tracking my fitness stuff.

Ran a slow 3 for recovery today. It was windy but sunny, and nice to be outside.

Also, here's a pic from Saturday's race. I'm the short one in the Slacker shirt.

RR: 7 miles total, with 3x1600 at 6:58 and 800 jogs.  Challenging, especially with breathing and earplug cords to the computer.

NRR: ds3 was up last night with sore throat, dh thinks strep so I'll get him into the doctor today.    Off to shower !

Real, great race!!

oh, and SS, so sorry, package to go out today, although it depends on how ds3 feels.

Lisa - Great picture!  You are adorable!  And, when everyone else looks like they are just trying to hold on, and you are looking like you are about to leave them in the dust!mischievous.gif

Thanks for the welcome, and the perspective!  Yes, in my head I know I need to forget about distance, or the fact that I need to walk a little in my longer runs.  I just need to hear it a couple ten times.

Thanks for the app advice!

Looks like my last post didn't post greensad.gif

Still following along. Sorry no personals since they've all been eaten.

RR: c25k W9D2 yesterday. I think I'm going to take a break for 2 days from running and then run the full 5k on the treadmill on Thursday. I'll probably just bike today and tomorrow. Then Bridge to 10K starts next week!

NRR: I've got my two LOs potty-training this week. I'm ready for lots of messes.

Have fun with the potty-training, MM!  Mine trained themselves when THEY were ready, not when I was lol.gif!  DS at almost 4, DD1 at 3 1/2 and DD2 at 2 1/2.  You're doing great with the C25K progression.

Lisa ~ great pic!!  Is that woman behind you barefoot or in Vibrams?  I surely hope the latter, given how you're all dressed for cold!

RR ~ taking today off to give the leg a rest, although it's just a little tight this morning, not actually painful.

NRR ~ my cat is having a naso-pharyngeal scope today to see what is making him sneeze all. the. time.  Hope they figure it out, and that it's nothing serious.  The news is making me sad today.  Earthquake in New Zealand.  Hired mercenaries killing Libiyan protesters (and don't get me started on the a$$ that is Ghadafi...), and Christian missionaries killed on their boat by Somali pirates.  What the hell is going on with our world greensad.gif.

Oh, and I want to add the "Top of the Morning" 5K on March 6 to the race list too orngbiggrin.gif!  Given the unknown status of my leg, I probably shouldn't, but I really want to.  So there, leg!

Lisa, you look terrific!

Lorijds, at the risk of sounding like a stalker, I think you may be the reason that I joined MDC. Years ago I used to lurk on the midwifery today boards, and I think it might have been you who mentioned MDC to a poster, and I came over to check it out. Six years and two kids later.... I'm still hanging around sometimes. And if it's not you, ignore and move on Sheepish.gif

MotivatedMama- Good luck with the potty training!

RR- My "long run" yesterday was shortened by a text message from my husband reminding me a of a meeting we had later in the morning. But I found a snow-less path (a riverside walkway in the next town that gets plowed), and managed 10K (yipee for the RunKeeper app- I can now report distances!) in 1:03. There were still a couple of snowy/icy parts, but it wasn't nearly as deep and slushy as here. I'm so far off my training plan for the half marathon right now that I don't really have a great plan. For this week it's bootcamp tonight, probably rest on Wednesday and I'll get the long run done on Thursday. I'm into week four of my cough and generally feeling pretty good, other than first thing in the morning. My plan for this week: get healthy, and re-work the plan to I can get enough distance in to feel ready for the half. I'm pretty comfortable in the 10-15K distance range, but have yet to run longer... Any great advice?

Great pic, Lisa!

No time for much to post today. Busy at work.

Had a great, really hard and fast 6 mile run yesterday morning. And a decent 4 miler this morning. I have running practice with my students in about a half hour. Stomach is still not 100%, I may need to see a doctor soon because I have a bunch of stuff going on that I think isn't quite right. I just hate going, it's easier to ignore it.

But probably not a great idea.

anyway have a great day Dingos.

Dingos!  biggrinbounce.gif

Nic- I hope you get that sorted out.  I also hate going to the dr. but I hope you go and get to feeling better.

Lisa- woo!  Nice pic!

I ran about 2 miles yesterday and only fell on my ass once.  I'll count it as a win!  redface.gif  There is a ton of ice out there, and the sidewalks are actually better than the alleys, for once.  I slipped on snow-covered ice and fell completely on my side, I'm sure it was funny to anyone watching!  I slipped a few more times, but managed to stay upright the rest of the run.  About 10 minutes into running, I realized I had a very.. uncomfortable rash that I had forgotten.  Oops.  Oh, well.. more great running stories, right?

I felt good and can definitely shoot for another run tomorrow.  I was considering tonight, but I am venturing out to my first 4H meeting as an adult.  I was not a fan as a kid in 4H, but I think it would be a good fit for DD.  We'll see! :)

Hey Dingos orngbiggrin.gif

Nemesis - Ouch, are you okay from your slippery run? You're braver than me. The ice scared me off from the outdoors.

JayGee - Ugh the news is so depressing. But for every horrendous thing that happens, there are probably about 30 people out there fighting the good fight. It's a shame they don't get more attention from the news. Hope your kitty feels better soon.

Realrellim - Great picture!!

-------------------

So yeah, everything's pretty peachy keen here. Just finishing up the last hour of work. Then it's home to tackle the laundry and get on the treadmill. Pants that used to be pretty snug on me are now loose. Woot woot!!

Lisa, I agree--that is a great pic!

Nemesis, I was on the verge of 4H for my kids, too...I hated my own 4H experience but wanted to give some of the local clubs a try for them. But now, well...you know. I hope you find a club that's a good fit. Nice job only falling once. I almost-fell exactly 5 times while fueling my car and filling the fuel jugs yesterday.

Nick, you've been on fire lately with the running. I aspire to that. Really, really amazing.

I did an hour on the elliptical at the Y and I am really glad I did. Then, did a couple ab machines, and some weighted squats (wow I need more squats to fix that hip), then soaked in the whirlpool for half an hour. I think when the kids get home, I will take them back in and do half an hour or so in the FitZone (kids' workout area for ages 7+). Ds really needs the workouts, and I can walk the track or row, or even do some yoga (or some of all of those).

I am totally clear that I need to journal food and reduce my carb intake. Significantly. Just checking tasks off the to-do list makes it easier to think I can get a grip on at least some parts of my life.

And now it is looking much more like Abu Dhabi rather than Dubai. And I am totally OK with that.
