It's HEART month :)

Any heart moms planning anything special?

Every year since my son (with TOF) was born we've had a party close to Feb 14 (CHD Awareness day) and collected donations for our local Ronald McDonald House while also spreading CHD awareness/facts/etc. around.

This year i'm one week away from my due date with our second (heart healthy according to the fetal echo!!) so we have to postpone the party a bit.  The other thing we do that is special is have a heart anniversary day for DS on his anniversary of open heart surgery so that was in December and we made heart cookies to share with his preschool friends.

How are all your "heart kids" doing?? Do you have any plans this month?

Were going to make treats for our Heart Team and go to Build a Bear and make some heart bears for the girls. They donate $ to the Childrens Heart Foundation!

Sophia is doing great! Her bp is still high so she had to stay on the bp meds for now but they are certain shell be off them in the future. Otherwise, shes doing all the normal toddler things! CRRRRRRRAZY energetic! smile.gif

Hadn't really thought of it, but having a heart kid does make valentines day more special (never been a fan of the holiday until now).  I think when DD gets older it'll take on more of a significance.

We try to do something fun. This weekend I'll be in New York city without my heart baby(9yo!I'm going to miss him so much!) so I want to do something special for him next weekend.Maybe I'll take him to his favorite restaurant or something.I also send in little gifts for his classmates. He's in a small special needs class so it's easy and doesn't cost much. This year I did a chocolate conversation heart, lollipop, and a little disk shooter with hearts on it(teacher's going to love me for that lol). That's in addition to the little cards with pencils(the movie Tron) that he's giving out.One year we did the Boston Children's Museum, that was through Boston Children's where he had his surgery. We got in for free,it was awesome!
