newborn fusses while pottying

I've had some luck cueing my 2 wk old DS on the changing table, but whenever I pick him up off the table half naked and try to hold him over a receptacle he fusses.  I don't think he likes being held facing away from me.  I am thinking we need to "practice" during the day, perhaps when he has clothes on, till we are both more comfortable with the position.  Does anyone have any tips to make the potty routine/place more fun and relaxing for a newborn? 

( For ex, DS loves the changing table because of the heating lamp overhead.  But there is no heating lamp over our toilet..... )

Sometimes my son fusses when held to pee. I gentle swing him and it calms him a bit.

If he is upset, just try again later, last thing  you want his him connecting that position with being upset. Make sure he is well supported, he might feel unsafe.
