I had no idea she was that concerned with teasing!

DD (6) came home today in tears.

Once I got her calmed down, I asked her what happened. Well... apparently some kids at her school were making fun of Justin Bieber.  That's right- the music star Justin Bieber.

To my knowledge, she has no idea who he is, so I was very confused as to why she was upset about people making fun of him.  Turns out she told people to stop making fun of him because you shouldn't make fun of people, whether you know them or not.  Well, from what I gather classmates/schoolmates were still making teasing comments about Justin Bieber.  If it evolved into continuing to make fin of him to bully DD, idk.  But she was quite incensed that people were making fun of him.

I told her that I was sorry people were making fun of him, but I was very proud of her for telling people it wasn't nice to tease or make fun of someone.

I just had no idea that she was so concerend about teasing!

I am sorry she was upset but that is just darling. That is so sensitive and sweet of her.

My daughter really can't stand slapstick-style comedy. We tried to watch the movie Drop Dead Fred, which I enjoyed as a child. She was horrified. I kept trying to explain/reassure her. "No, it's supposed to be funny, see he's just pulling her hair and it's funny, look, hahaha". I realized how ridiculous I was being, because of course it's not funny to pull someone's hair!

It is so very sweet of her.

And I hadn't realized that the anti-bullying ads on TV had made such an impression on her!

She absolutely adores the old cartoon shows, so we watch a bit of Boomerang.  Since their demographic is kids, they run some anti-bullying ads, and I guess seeing them has given her a concern over others teasing and being mean to others.
