Rash Issue

Thread Starter

I diaper my little babe in cloth prefolds with PUL and wool covers.  I have had constant issues with a rash.  I'm pretty sure that she just has really sensitive skin and even just a couple minutes in a diaper that is soaked with urine hurts her skin. I change her constantly during the day and it get better, but if she is in a wet diaper at night, it really gets bad. Right now, I am using disposables at night, but I really don't want to.

I am open for any suggestions.  I am looking for a diaper safe barrier cream thinking that it might help. Also, are there liners that help wick away the moisture?  I want to use cloth at night, but just can't quite figure out.

Thank you in advance!

rather than a barrier cream, i would suggest trying a stay dry inner like many pockets have. She may not tolerate them, but you'll never know until you try. You can buy a set of liners to use in you pfs for about $5.

Something else to consider - has it always been like this? If your dipes are not getting clean enough or you're having stink issues, that can cause this same problem. As can your laundry detergent.

I would definitely try what the above poster said: a stay-dry inner liner like fleece or suedecloth for nighttime, and make sure you are using a residue-free detergent.  The bummis website has a great list of CD safe detergents on their website under "resources".
