Best remodeling decision ever (no, really)!

So my dd and I have been having a bit of a power struggle about mealtime.  I have never been a fan of the cleanplate club or forcing her to stay in her chair- it's just the two of us and frankly- I don't model that either... We have dinner together always, but sometimes other meals ....

Anyway so she loves having me boost her up and down out of her chair and she has to go potty or get more water, or another napkin- many excuses so I am always getting up to get her up and down (which she can do by herself, but she likes the "help")

Fast forward to dinner miracle!! I bought an old wood table on CL, sawed the legs to 17", put down some FLOR carpet tiles and sewed new covers for some huge ugly pillows..... we have Japanese style seating, everyone sits on the floor on their own  big cushion, and she can stand comfortably too, AND I don't have to get up.

I LOVE it, it looks great as well and I have much better dinner posture and even I am less likely to get up and fuss in the kitchen.

BRILLIANT if I do say so myself.  So happy with this idea.

I LOVE repurposing stuff to suit our needs! Will you share pics?

Oh that sounds so delightful!

I love thinking outside the box when it comes to organizing and re-purposing stuff.  My most recent genius (if i do say so myself) idea was to use the armoire in the dining room to store our older 2 kids' clothes.  It is right by the laundry room and i was sick and tired of always lugging the laundry up or down stairs (i SWEAR the next house we rent will be ONE story b/c of this!).  It works great though.  I have a shoebox for each of their underwear and socks, and then we just put tops in one pile and bottoms in another pile on the middle shelf, which they each have a "side" of.  And they can put their clothes away right after they get out of the dryer and fold them. I'm loving it.
