Strange teething?

A question... I'm just wondering if this is in the area of 'normal', or should I be worried?

DS (14mo) has his front 8 teeth, 4 top, 4 bottom. He has been showing his teething signs, and so I kept checking his gums where the next teeth should be (his cuspids) and there is nothing there.

So yesterday I was trying to fish out something he had picked up off the floor and put in his mouth, and he has four molars part way broken through.

Is it ok/normal for these to come in and skip the cuspids?

TYIA Mamas..!

For both my ds the cuspids have come in last (i.e. after the 1 yr molar). I assume it will be the same with dd.

Yeah my DS's molars came in after he had gotten just 4 top teeth & 3 bottom teeth. Then the rest of the front teeth came in... he still hasn't gotten his 2nd molars yet. His teeth tend to come in & retract & then come in again...

My DS is exactly the same at 14.5 months. He has always gotten his teeth four at a time, but this time there are only three molars through.

All of the charts I have seen online show the first molars coming in before the cuspids, so I think its normal (though I thought it was the other way around). I think your DS (and mine) are on the early end of the spectrum, too - the ranges tend to be 13 - 20 months for the molars.

This is from the AAP:

Thanks everyone! I feel much better now =)

Addie, my DS teethes the same way, multiple teeth at a time. Its rough on him, but I guess on the upside they'll be done sooner I suppose!
