40+ Do you have insecure thoughts about being an older mom TTC?

Thread Starter

I seems to have many negative thoughts about being 45 and TTC. I have a two year old and didn't think about it that much then. I don't know if it is because I already have one or because I am 2 years older or because I FEEL five years older.

My thought vary between- embarassed (!), foolish, selfish, too demanding (of life?), piggy, insecure, old etc. Am I the only one??

thanks!

I have to get pregnant first, then i'll worry.

I didnt worry so much with my first two, i was 38 and 41 when they came into this world.

I'm 45 too and the only thing I ever think is why did I wait so long and why is this taking so long. But selfish? embarrassed? foolish? Never! I just have to look at my dd and see how much she loves me and know the next on would feel the same. There are no guarantees in life I could be 25 have young kids and be hit by a bus. Or I could be 45 and end up living to be 100. who knows what I do know is I am responsible for being healthy as I can be and loving my dd with all my heart. If another one comes along lik I hope all the more love to give for the time we have together.

And I second bb offer to come join us on the other thread. You'll feel right at home.

Definitely join us on the 40+ thread! I just turned 40 in January, and honestly, I never wanted to have kids until I met my SO almost 3 years ago. We just started trying this month, so I don't know how this will work for us.

The ONLY thing I worry about age wise is that I will be 80ish when my child is 40ish. So, my only concern is that my kids won't have me around as long as I would like for them to. BUT, there is no guarantee that I would be around any longer than that even if I had them years ago. So, I try to put that out of mind.

Regarding anything else, I have NO doubts that I am much better equipped at my age now to be a great mom than I would have been earlier. I am a very selfish person with my personal time, and now that I've had a ton of time to do my own thing, I am ready to give it all to a baby.

Don't fret too much, just go with it!  biggrinbounce.gif
