BFN at 12 DPO - am I out?

Not even the faintest, teeniest line - just a BFN. AF is due today, so I guess I'll know soon enough, but I was very frustrated by the BFN this morning. I've been crampy and nauseaous since 6 DPO and was sure I'd have at least a faint line by now. What do you think - am I out?

Every time I get a BFN after 10dpo, AF shows (eventually, sometimes at 16 or 17dpo)... so I don't think you're 100% out yet but the likelihood is slim.... Every time it happens I think that maybe the test was wrong or it was too soon (and then spend hours researching what percent of BFN's at X dpo are 'wrong' lol) so I totally get where you're coming from. Actually I took a test (BFN) at 10dpo & now I'm 14dpo so I know AF is likely about to arrive but it's taking all my willpower not to go take another test!

Good luck -- I hope you (and I!) do defy this 'slim likelihood'!!!

I hate to be a pessimist, but my reproductive endocrinologist believes that a bfn at 12dpo can be considered definitive. But I would love it if you would prove her wrong! Good luck! fingersx.gif

Oh, do test again if AF didn't show. I got a BFN at 12 dpo, an extremely faint line 13 dpo--so faint I couldn't show anyone and have them believe it--and got a strong line at 14 dpo. All 3 were the same tests, which measures at 20mIU. I now have a 19 month old. Everyone's body is different, and every pregnancy is, too.

escher12: I can prove your doc wrong as well smile.gif BFN at 12dpo and BFP at 14dpo. Some women test positive later than others. Some women don't properly produce HCG and never really test positive, pregnant or not. That's definitely very rare though. But there are LOTS of women on here with negatives at 10, 11, 12, even 13 and 14 DPO that test positive a few days later.

To some extent it depends on your usual luteal phase length. But in the end, you're not out until AF shows up!

Me too. BFN @ 12 DPO and the BFP @ 14. There are actually quite a few charts on FF of woman who follow this pattern. Good luck!

I have never tested positive before 16dpo, never and i am 100% sure on my dates. So, I would not even have had the inkling of a line at 12dpo.

Thanks for all your replies. Ended up getting my period the next day, 13dpo. So, on to another cycle!

Very new here..ttc! Love seeing someone post their results. Just read a zillion posts elsewhere about implantation bleeding and never get anyone's responses to what ended up happening as a follow up!

Interesting about the definitive at 14DPO. I got a BFN at 19DPO and then a BFP at 24DPO.

My positives usually come around the day of my period or the day after (which for me is 14-15 DPO). Interestingly, the pregnancy I miscarried I got it a few days earlier than usual, very faint and stayed faint for longer than it should before getting darker- that was my first sign that something was odd with the pregnancy. So I would have to disagree with that doc. ;)

I like hearing this since I'm onto the end of CD 35 (not sure how many DPO, but I'd guess at least 15, probably more) and still only BFNs. No sign at all of AF either.
