If not how much were you billed?  I am praying this is just a typo.  We have a high deductible plan so $2000 came right out of our HRA and we 'may still owe $1200'.  This seems insanely high.  I've been googling 20 week ultrasound costs and the highest I've seen is $3000 but most are about $1000.

That seems awful high.  Do you have twins or something special in your pregnancy? was it a 3d or 4d?  I had my 20 week  (2D) ultrasound at JFK hospital in Edison. So far, so good with my pregnancy. The exam was at least 45 minutes to an hour and I'm a plus size so I don't know if that made it harder for the tech.

I just got my statement from my health insurance the other day.I don't have it in front of me but the charge was $773, I believe and my health insurance paid $564.  Your charge is 10x what it should be or maybe I have a bargain hospital?

Nope, not having twins, and this is a normal pregnancy.  When I went onto my insurance website the estimate was $200.  But when I called they said the allowable amount was about $5200 which is what the amount was reduced to, minus our deductible and HRA left the $1200 owed.  I wish I hadn't looked this up at 8pm on a Friday.  Waiting to call Monday morning is driving me crazy.

I am sure this ist just a mistake.Probably it was 663.Call the hospital billing dep.and I am sure they will do something about it.

So they are saying $6663 is the correct amount for a 'maternal fetal ultrasound'.  Has anyone had this done there?

If I got that response, I would call my OB's office. They need to know if they don't and should warn you.

You could have made the appt at JFK where I went. It was out of way but I would travel to save thousands.

I had to go to the urologist in NJ and I had a urine cytology done. I was handed a overly photocopied piece of paper that said this is a very expensive test and that insurance might react to it and try not to cover it but none of it should be your responsibility.  

You could have been warned at least.  But still this is a very high charge. I keep hoping other mothers will post with what they were charged.  Here's where I would try baby center for a larger audience.

Good news  :)  They are going to accept the $2093 from our insurance as the complete payment and will hold the $2000 from our HRA and apply to the bills from the delivery in April.  Thank God. 

Unless they go back and tell our insurance they accepted a partial payment (which I don't think they will bother doing) this actually means we hit our deductible, saving us $1000. The woman I spoke too was very very nice and helpful. She said to call her after I have the baby to reduce those bills too.
