just pulled dd from class - need thoughts - Page 2

I would have pulled my child out too, in that situation.  I can't see any way for that situation to end positively or constructively wrt the goals of the program.

You know, I stopped myself from saying that, but I totally agree.  IF these staff are clinical (ie have a master's degree or more) they are likely licensed or members of a professional body.  This does warrant reporting if it's cast as therapeutic.  If the staff are generically qualified, then their supervisor needs to address this and ensure that it doesn't recur.

I agree. From what I've read, and I'm not an expert, but I've worked to educate myself, anything can be achieved by fighting with children can be achieved another way. Unfortunately, there's very little quality control in this world of OT/SLP, etc.... And not a lot of candor about the approaches therapists most rely on.  Parents have to ask questions to discern what approaches or ideologies therapists believe in, and then ensure they're OK with how the program is carried out.   Expecting humane, effective therapy, tailored to your child's profile, from some practitioners is like expecting an unmedicated birth from an OB at a major metropolitan teaching hospital.  It can happen, but it's not a given.
