A smoothie-like something that isn't cold?

Everyone always recommends smoothies to get unwelcome veggies/foods into kids.  But my little guy won't eat/drink anything that's even refrigerator cold (his teeth have been sensitive ever since he chipped them).

Not to even mention the fact that we're still working on cups.  And while he understands the concept of straws he's more interested in playing with them than drinking through them.

So what can I give him to eat that I can hide the "good" stuff in?  Right now we're working on the assumption that he's dairy allergic.

The first things that came to my mind were applesauce with extra fruits pureed in & mashed potatoes with extra veggies mashed in.  Then I realized that these are both cooked & smoothies usually use raw fruit/veg.  Does this matter?

Could you just blend your fruit/veg with some juice or milk & serve it at room temp?  Just leave out the frozen elements?

If cooked stuff is OK, maybe a pureed soup, with lots of veggies?

what about a savory custard (veggies) that you could serve warm or room temperature, or sweet with fruit?

I second the pureed soup.  I have made cream of vegetable soup that has a bunch of vegetables (broccoli, cauliflower, spinach potato) that is blended completely.  You could omit the cream and just use broth though.

there are even fruit soups you can find recipes for. I thought of yogurt and applesauce, but that has dairy-unless you get coconut milk or soy yogurt. almond milk is a great dairy alternative. tastier and healthier than soy.

have you tried cup up veggie sticks- carrots, bell peppers, kohlrabi, jicama, celery with almond butter??

It's a smoothie that requires a straw, but you could make one with coconut milk, banana, mango, spinach, and other room temp fruits.

I haven't been on MDC in forever!  I remember  when you were expecting yeesh time flies!  I'm kind of the same, I actually prefer hot drinks.  My favorite lately is like drinking apple pie!  I steam an apple, and some squash of any kind or canned pumpkin, with some carrots.  Then blend with some cinnamon vanilla and soymilk as I cannot have dairy, but you could sub coconut milk.
