4yo sudden interest in BFing again...

Hello,

I need some advise....  I am a mother of 5 who has always BF our children.  I have a 5mo baby who I exclusively BF - my 4 yo daughter has a sudden interest in nursing again (she weaned herself at 2).  Now, this is a normal happenstance when a new sibling comes along...I experienced it with my other children as well.  They all want to nursie again like the new baby...  The difference this time is that my DD wants to KEEP nursing - the others would try it and then decide that it wasnt for them and would move on!  My 4yo DD likes the milk and I am not really sure what to do...  My older kids are kinda grossed out, but I dont have the heart to deny her something that I know comforted her and made her feel close and cherished.  My husband thinks we should just let her and teach her to be private about it and eventually she will lose interest, but I dont want it to feel like a "dirty secret"....  I am stumped - what should I do?

I think it's fine as long as your supply is large enough. She probably just feels like this is the best way to ensure that her closeness to you is still strong. If you would feel better about expressing some of your milk into a cup, maybe you could cuddle her while she drinks it. I love that your husband is cool about it! Don't fret, she'll be a strong lady because of your nurturing way.

I'd discourage it. just because nursing 2 would drive me insane.
