When I was pg with DD I bought 1 Bum Genius OS pocket diaper each month I was pregnant because I was afraid my family wouldnt buy me cloth diapers for my shower. Well, I was wrong, and I got tons of prefolds from family and friends, plus hand me downs from people who's babies didnt wear dipes anymore, plus some handmade diapers. SInce then, Ive also splurged and bought a few diapers. So, i have diaper stuff coming out my ears and the space I have allotted for diapers is full. I need some help deciding what I def. need to keep. Here's what I have (the items with a * I am def. not getting rid of)

 

packed up for a newborn to use:*

3 thristies size one covers

16 3 ply organic gerber prefolds

24 small green mountian prefolds

 

In the drawer:

9 Bum Genius Pocket covers*

1 Flip cover*

2 Rock Mountian pocket cover*

1 wool cover* 

1 Thirsties size medium AIO

4 Kushies size medium AIO

1 Diapercaps cover

 

 

I use my BG pockets as covers and prefolds at home, I dont stuff them unless we are going out.

 

16 microfiber pocket inserts (11 of which came with the diapers)

4 microfiber/flannel inserts*

15 microfiber doublers

3 hemp inserts*

3 handmade diapers that I can use with a cover*

30 chinese prefolds (primarly what I use)*

5 old school covers (translucent pull up things)

 

Ive listed everything I have so that its easier to figure out what I might need to keep for later and I what Im actually using vs. what Im just storing in my packed drawer.

 

So, I was telling a girlfriend of mine that I had all these extra microfiber inserts and she says that she puts them directly into the diaper (not stuffing) and her kid has NEVER had a rash. I was told to never, ever do this....

Has anyone else used microfiber inserts directly on the skin? If I cant find a better way to use these without having to stuff them inside the diaper, Im temptet to use them to clean our truck.

 

Also, DD has never peed enough to need a doubler. Should I save them for when she is older? Will she eventually pee enough that I have to have them?

 

My friend has a child and she claims that she "grew out" of the BG one size. DD is pretty small (10 months and nearly 18 lbs.) Do you think its likely that she will outgrow them?

 

The kushies stink! Someone gave them to me and Ive stripped them over and over again and I cant get the smell out, so they are 1st on my chopping block unless someone tells me not to get rid of them.
