Both my kids and I have a number of intolerances and allergies. Â We recently did the ALCAT testing for the boys (I did it for myself a couple years ago). Â DS1 came up with a very different list of foods that bother him (DS2's is very similar to mine). Â I'm trying very hard to figure out how to make him snacks, ie "treats" to take to preschool. Â Especially for parties when his friends are eating things like brownies and cupcakes.
Â
Things that are off-limits are,
wheat
vanilla
cocoa/chocolate
tapioca
flax
citrus (especially lemon and lime)
peanuts (and he doesn't really like tree nuts)
Maple
milks from cows/sheep/milk
I'm sure I'm leaving out some relevant items
Â
He doesn't like rice krispy type items, I've made several variations. Â I'm planning on trying to make some carob chip cookies, but vanilla is so prevalent, it's really tough to find stuff without it.
Â
I'm also trying to figure out how to "flavor" cupcakes and frosting type items without vanilla, chocolate or almond extract.
Â
I'm not even trying to make them family friendly, just stuff for him. Â Corn is out for DS2, but wheat is fine and sugars are out for me.
Â
Thanks for any suggestions!
