Min. wage and a 6 month old?!!!!!

Hi.

I just got my Bachelors and am looking for work, although I am very hesitant about it. I applied at Babies R US just because. Well I had a phone interview today, and I have a lot of customer service experience so I'm sure my odds are good for getting the job. The interview is this Friday and I am feeling very depressed as I don't want to leave my son. Though spending my time with my son is priceless- I don't feel like getting paid min. wage with a bachelors is time well spent. This would not be a career choice, as I would like something paid better that would have more to do with my carreer goals in the human service field. I've been applying for jobs in the field but have not got anything yet...

I feel like I just told her I would go to the interview because this is the first thing that came along. Do you think I should pass it up? We need the money but we are not HURTING...

I need advice- but to me this does not feel right but maybe it is just because I am dealing with leaving him.

I wouldn't do it unless you really needed the money.  Your time will be better spent by trying to get a foot in the door of your chosen field.  Speaking from experience here unfortunately...

All the best to you!

I'm thinking the same thing...do you think I should call and just cancel the interview or go?

I'd take a day to think it over, but I probably wouldn't go.  Save my time and theirs, you know?  Just definitely let them know sometime tomorrow if you're NOT going to go, but thank them for the opportunity.  This way it keeps the door open if you ever did want to apply for another position there.

Id go on the interview, and if you get the job, you can always turn it down. Interviews are good, face-to-face practice when you are trying to get a job. Plus, they might offer you 3 days a week or something where you could work around it. Im not sure what the discounts are like, but you may find that if you need to buy stuff, it makes your hourly rate seem higher since you are the first one to know about clearanced items, sales, ect. Plus, from what I understand, Babies R Us employees are allowed to nurse their kids at work, so if someone you knew was watching him, you could take your break in their nursing room.

wow! That would be so wonderful if they would let me nurse him at work! Does anybody know what the discount is? I still need to sleep on this...
