nonpumping, woh. will nightweaning make us lose our milk?

dd is 15 mos.  she is an all night nurser.  i might wait a few more months to try to nightwean, but will this make the supply go away if she's not nursing during the day?  she does nurse a lot on the weekend, but primarily all night long.  just worried about what will happen.  any thoughts?  tia!

I posted a poll about this a while ago when I quit pumping.  I'll see if I can find it to bump it for you but the bottom line was that most mamas said they had no noticeable supply issue when they quit pumping after 1 year.

I stopped pumping at 13 mo, and for a couple more months I hand-expressed a couple oz into a bottle at lunchtime just to kind of keep things going (much easier and more discreet than dealing with a pump, all you need is a little bottle).  I think I stopped that at 15 or 16 months.  I did notice a supply decrease but it doesn't seem to bother DD.

I have chosen not to nightwean mostly because it is easier for me to feed DD in my sleep than to deal with nightweaning; but I do think that no nursing all day + no nursing all night would be likely to lead to no milk after a while. You might not dry up totally (don't people continue to nurse older children for years only 1x-2x/day?) but I would imagine the baby wouldn't be getting very much milk after a while of that.

Edit: Bumped the poll for you, it's in this same forum.  But sorry, I realize you were asking more about nightweaning so maybe it doesn't quite address your issue.
