What to do when the middle name flows better as a first name?

I like the name Elise and DH agreed. The thing is I want to honor my grandmother and use the name Hannah as a middle name. Hannah Elise flows better (also last name will start with H) but I like the name Elise better. Plus DH wants to use the nickname Ellie. So what to do? Go with what flows better or go with the name I like better first?

Name her Hannah Elise, but have her go by her middle name/nickname.

Elise Hannah sounds just fine! My brothers both go by their middle names and HATE it. In all seriousness they begged us to name the kids what we'd call them. I think Elisa Hannah goes fine!

You are going to be calling her Elise more often than "Hannah Elise" or "Elise Hannah", so the whole flow of the full name doesn't really matter so much.

Go with the name you like- I know a few people who go by their middle names and it can be a pain in the butt. I went to be with my sister in law during her labour- got to the hospital and asked for her by her first name- and they said there was noone with that name and had to go find my brother to let me come in. I never knew that she goes by her middle name until that moment!

You are right about the pain of going by a middle name. I have a student that goes by his middle name but all paperwork is in his first name. He doesn't even know how to spell his first name. I think I will go use Elise first and not worry about the flow of the name. I really want to use my grandma's name as a middle name so it will have to work.

I love the name Hannah (DD2's name), but I agree, go by what name you like the best.

Elise is beautiful and Ellie is a cute nickname.  We don't ever call either DD by their complete names.
