I have a ton of recipes that call fro uncooked rice (chicken casserole, etc) and I want to start using brown rice.  Do I cook it exactly the same as white rice or will it need more time or liquid?

It'll need more of both.

I learned a great trick from Mark Bittman's How to Cook Everything Vegetarian: You can easily substitute brown rice for white rice by precooking it a bit before adding it to recipes. Here is the method described in his book (hooray for Google books!), in the green box.
