I'm trying to divorce X, and I mean sincerely trying. I even (per my lawyer's advice) agreed to some of his silly demands like the paternity test. Now he won't go take the paternity test or talk to his lawyer so both lawyers and I are all sitting here wondering what's going on. My best guess is after I called his bluff on the paternity test (hey, if he wants to spend $500 on chewed up Q-tips, fine by me!) he freaked out at the cost and figured if he just ignores everything, it'll just go away. At least until the next time his mother or girlfriend finds correspondence from his lawyer and forces him to take some action.

I get it, this divorce is going to take a LOOOOONG time and cost ridiculous amounts of money and patience. I mean come on, there isn't even anything we disagree on enough to fight over! It's simply signing and answering paperwork. What's so hard about that???

Anyone who's been there done that with an X who only answers enough paperwork to not get the case thrown out/ruled on, how do you deal with it? Legally, my lawyer is pushing the case (that's what I paid him for, after all) but emotionally, I'm at a loss. It's so frustrating to feel like this is all going to be behind me in a matter of weeks/months just to have it ripped out of my grasp again ![]()
