Preganancy Verfication? Ugh.

Called a new OBGYN and they want me to come in for a pregnancy verification appointment. Are my tests at home not accurate enough? Are my symptoms lying to me? I feel nervous about this.

Who else has had to have a pregnancy verfication appointment? What do they do to verify?

With ds I just went in and peed in a cup and they said "yup, you're pregnant". Then they scheduled my next appointment, which was the "big" one with blood work and lots of paper work and stuff.

This time (different state, different OB) I called a couple days after I got my BFP. They asked when my last period was and how many tests I'd taken that were positive. They said as long as you have 2 positive tests then they consider that verification enough and you are pregnant. Then they schedule you for an appointment between 6-8 weeks (mine is at 7 weeks 1 day).

It appears that all OB's are different and it just depends on what they do at that office.

I went in and they did a pee test.  Then I sat with the midwife and she went over the basic do's and don'ts and set up my first appt.  I had to do an US the next day and then 2 weeks later, but that was because I am 40 and they wanted to have viability.

Mine calls the first appointment a "verification appointment" as well.  With my first pregnancy I went in at 10w and with my second I went in at 8w.  I'd guess they can't just take your word for it, so whether they verify with a pregnancy test or an ultrasound, it's just standard proceedure.

I didn't go in until 15 weeks with this one. Just didn't want to be touched and handled.

PP are right...it's silly that they cant take our words for it. But usually it's just pee in a cup. Sometimes they take a sample of blood.
