Hey ladies!

I have been lurking here and totally in love with the questions and answers from you mamas! I am 12 weeks with our 3rd, 1st was a hossy birth ( ugh) second HB :) and hopefully third UC.....

our mw we used for #2 lives 2 hrs away, I am coming to peace with the idea of being at home with just myself and hubbs and the kiddos. we live about 5 minutes from a hossy if we need...

I would like to know from you all what supplies besides chux, clamps, blankets, pan, etc you would suggest... ALSO I would love to find the emergency childbrith book and or anything really about UC .... where is a good place to find used books cheap? we are limited in our financial situation and I cant spend $100 of a bunch of books. Ive checked amazon used with no progess...

does anyone here have anything used for  cheap?

books? fetoscope? etc....

thanks mamas

Peace~

HI Tammy, and congrats on your choice and your sense of readiness.

I saw a good thread not too long ago on the opinions of the moms here on what they feel is necessary-- may I direct you to it?:

Keep in mind that some of us are very minimalist in philosophy, and therefore nothing is actually necessarily “required” as such… it seems to all come down to individual comfort levels. But, in the interest of preparedness, I suppose you could never have too many things handy in terms of supplies!? :D

The Emergency Childbirth book can be found here:    http://www.umbrellanoize.com/stuff/Emergency%20Childbirth.pdf

And what a great resource it is. I have heard that if you were to get only one book on childbirth, this should be it… and in many ways, I do agree with that.

Unfortunately I don’t have any supplies or books to give or to sell, so good luck with that! I hope someone else here can possibly help with that.

I don't know of a used place, but InHisHands (.com) birth supply has the best prices I've found. They have sales sometimes too. I just recieved an order from them, and am very happy with them. If anyone finds a place that sells used birth books and such, I'd like to know too!

After my water broke, I went and immediately pulled up this page for my partner:

The only things I used for my birth:

- My couch, where I was for my entire labor and birth.

- I sipped a bottle of water during labor.

- I sat on a towel, because fluid would gush out periodically.

- Cord clamps and a scissors, to cut the cords.

- A bowl to catch the placenta.

- Lots of towels to catch blood and fluids.

- Blankets to wrap babies in.

- Pads and chux pads for PP bleeding.
