using codes for smilies

Hi - I looked through the FAQs & did a search about this, but couldn't find anything, so maybe I'm the only one with this problem!!

Before the site format change, I could type the colon and word for the smilie that I wanted to insert in my post (if I knew the word).  Now, every time I do that, my post just contains the colon and word or symbol, no smilie in its place.  Example - if I type this, :) you will see the colon & parenthesis in my post, but before a little, yellow happy face would appear in my post.  Now, I need to search through the list of smilies each time I want to insert one.  This isn't a terrible thing, but I just thought it was easier to type in the code if I knew it.  Any advice for me or is this just the way it is?

Thanks!

Hi! The software doesn't use the old BB Code by default. You will need to select the BB Code editor in order to type the smilie code in directly so you can type :tiphat and have tiphat.gif appear. We have asked that the smilie code to be placed next to the smilies as a future feature request for everyone who doesn't have smilie code memorized. The existing smilie feature is a bit different than it was before, but we expect the smilies will improve as time goes on. Thanks for your patience!

Here is a previous explanation about smilies. Hope this helps explain a bit more.

Thanks!  I'll look into the other format & decide which one I like better. smile.gif
