Pumping without creating over supply.

I have a tiny 2 week old, and a 16 month old.

the two week old is nursing and gaining weight like a champ-- no issues there. My son stopped nursing part way through my pregnancy, and show absolutely no interest in resuming nursing again. I'd like to sub some of his bottles of milk with pumped milk.

The issue is that I feel like my daughter already has trouble keeping up with my flow, and often will only nurse on one side between feedings-- meaning that one of my breasts isn't emptied for hours and hours.

Will pumping only make things worse? Is there a way to make enough for the pump, but still have my supply match my daughters needs the rest of the time?

Hi and congratulations on the new addition to your family.  Pumping probably won't change the flow of the milk - do you think it's a OAL (Over Active Letdown) or is it just a little fast and your two week old just has to grow alittle to keep up with the flow?  You know it may actually help her alittle to have you pump, if you pump first of all you'll be taking away the really fast flow and she'll get the creamier stuff behind - at the end of the day it's really just supply and demand, I personally, can't see that there would be a problem and there are only benefits to your 16 month old receiving your breastmilk - it's a wonderful thing to do, I'd give it a go and see how you get on!  Congratulations and what a wonderful mother you must be to do this at just 2 weeks pp!!!
