Our ped it bright and very "this is what the APA says." And I am willing to say but this research says X and this is what we are doing. Kids are healthy and growing, she has no issues with my statements. I am not ever looking for parenting advice and she doesn't offer it so thank goodness for that. But we have no issues.

If you know your LO has oral issues, then you might consider downplaying the issue until later. Perhaps when he is older you might consider seeking a referral to a feeding specialist but I don't think it is necessary now.
