840 square feet

Mobile home, big yard. 2 adults, a 4yo, a 3yo and a 19mth old. Think it's possible? Or is that too little space? I hope this is the right area.

We have two adults and three kids living quite happily in less than 700 square feet. We recently moved from a place that was ~750 square feet, but the use of space in this place makes it feel bigger than the old place. I think it is because the old place was an apartment with 2 bedrooms and living space all on one level, but the new place is townhouse-style with the bedrooms upstairs and the living space downstairs. Small spaces are doable for families, but a good layout is really helpful.

We had around 750 sq. feet in our old house for a 15 year old boy, a 6 year old girl and a 4 year old boy.  It was a 3 bedroom, 2 bath one story home. 

 

After living there for almost 6 years, I am so glad to be into a larger home now.  We had a horrible layout, absolutely dreadful, and using the space we did have was really hard.  We made it work because we had to but it was difficult and I developed CHAOS (can't have anyone over syndrome) which is completely counter to my nature.

Well, the place we were initially looking for was 840 sq ft and didn't pan out so we kept looking.

 

The place we've found that is SUPER promising is 980 sq ft! Yay!!!! As far as the layout, it's fairly decent. The living room is big, kitchen is small but do-able, bedrooms are much smaller than what we have now but it's okay.

We have 960ish sq ft for 2 adults, two teens and a tween, 2 dogs and a rather large ice hockey bag.

I think it's also a matter of part of the country. Can you use the yard in 2-3-or 4 seasons? Or will it be too cold to be out for more than an hour or two?

We got the 940 sq ft place, it's ours now!!!! It is a mobile home; will be moved by next month if the weather cooperates.

 

As for the yard-we'll be able to use it and go outside as long as it's not too cold/snowy. Our weather is 60 degrees today! Hoping this means no more cold weather :D

Atm-its not too cold to be outside for more than an hr or two. That could change though, considering we've had snow all the way into April before tho.

We have about 500 sq feet for two adults and two children, ages 5 and 3.

 

It's too small. It's two bedroom, and only one closet in the entire house. I have no storage and there is nowhere to get AWAY. It's not too bad in the summer, as we are on 3 acres, but in the winter the kids go bonkers because they want to run around and there is literally NO room to run. We have a wood stove and the house is not only small it's shaky and bouncy, hence the no running.

 

Another 300 sq feet, especially with more storage, would help a lot. But then, you have an extra person, too.

Yay! That's great though! IME, it's being stuck indoors due to cold for weeks/months on end that makes small places get unbearable. If you have warm-ish days even in February, alternating with cold spells, that will probably ward off cabin fever nicely!

oh my! I couldn't handle 500 sq ft!
