Banks and your address

Thread Starter

Has anyone else had trouble with this?

I live in an apartment complex. Even though all my statements are paperless, the banks, etc., still have to send you snail mail sometimes. I've been having issues with correct mail delivery (the mail carrier will put other people's mail in my box and I'm sure the reverse happens). I'm trying to change my MAILING address with the bank to the PO Box I recently got. They're giving me major issues about it. I've got the receipt for the PO Box from the post office. No go. I told the bank I want to keep my actual residential address on file, I just don't want to to get mail there, due to the issues with actually getting my mail!

I don't want to get a new debit/credit card and have it go into the twilight zone!

I've always been able to change my address online.  yes the bank needs to keep a copy of your physical address for the records department but your mailing address should be changed immediately.  Somewhere online in account setting, or profile you should be able to change your address.

How did you try to change it? That can make a huge difference. I've had problems when I try to call in- too much potential for misunderstanding, undertrained employees and miscommunications. I've had better luck doing it online, as PP suggested, and I've also had good experiences going into a branch and talking directly with a manager.

I had to go to my credit union in person to change the address on my account - they wanted to check my ID. It's because they're concerned about fraud.
