Educational advocate in NJ?

Not sure if this belongs here or in Learning at School.....

I'm looking for an educational advocate who can go with me to the IEP meetings. I want to say I heard about them on this forum, but it was before I needed it.

Basically I need someone who can help me stay focused on implementing the 504 accommodations and what services are required to be provided but the school district can 'fudge' on not providing. Am I making any sense?

Child has a bully for a teacher. But the school is adamantly refusing to move her. I'm at my whits end and need some help. I thought if I called an IEP meeting and had someone there we might have a bit better of a time.

Can anyone help?

I'd try posting in the finding your tribe forum also.

NJ has SPAN that are supposed to be ed advocates, but good luck in trying to get a response from them.  Otherwise, I've never seen anywhere else to find one.  If you happen to stumble on a well-versed SN parent, great.  Otherwise, you might have to contact a good SpEd lawyer and ask what they'd charge for that kind of service.

Of course, I'm referring to Northern NJ in the Somerset-Union-Middlesex Co. area.  When I was in need, I did look throughout the state, though.  :/

I have advocates in Southern NJ and Central NJ and if they can't help you, they may know someone who can.  PM me and I'll send you the details.
