...made their own babywearing coat?  I love the M coat (http://www.upmama.com/catalog.php?category=12) but it's a bit a LOT out of our price range.  I just got a cute new coat, and was thinking of attempting to sew a zip-on front panel so that I could wear my son in the Ergo in our ridiculously cold Chicago winters without bundling him up like crazy.  

I'm kind of a beginning seamstress, so if you have made one was it complicated?  I'm a "learn as I go" type but at this point don't think I could handle anything too crazy.

I tried...and failed miserably.  (I wanted to make a zip in panel that would be warm enough for cold WI winter days, but my sewing machine isn't up to sewing heavier duty fabric and I'm a beginner sewer.)

Sorry I don't have any personal experience, but I'm sure it's doable.
