Can I do this with dried apples?

I have about 2 quarts of dried apple rings that neither me nor DH can eat in their present form. Can I reconstitute them at all in water so they can be used to make apple sauce, apple butter or apple pie? Or does anyone have a recipe for using dried apples that way? I can give them away but would love to be able to use them myself. Also, if I leave them the way they are and chop them up for apple cake or something similar, would I need to add extra liquid since they're dried? Thanks!

I break them up and add them to soak overnight with oatmeal and raisins- cinnamon I add in the morning

My DH takes them with instant oatmeal to work (these I dried with cinnamon on them and broke them into tiny bits)
