Washer/dryer combo unit?

We have space for a washer and a dryer on the floor in our new house, but on the floor, not stacking. I was wondering how these two-in-one units do with cloth dipes. It sure would be nice to have only one unit on the floor and use the other space for shelves or something.

The one we had sucked. And we weren't even washing cds or even incredibly dirty clothes (we're both professionals). And nobody in the area (major metro) had ever tried repairing one before, so 3 service calls later we bought new side-by-sides.

I was just about to order spilled and flats to hang dry after reading tons of terrible reviews(although definitely lg gets the best). We are getting a quote tomorrow for putting a stacked unit in our mudroom closet. If it's too expensive we are thinking a combo unit or just a washer in our bathroom and we would hang everything to dry. Best of luck, hope you'll get some answers!
