My daughter went in for an eye exam last year and she was borderline needing reading glasses. My optometrist decided to wait to see if her eyes would grow out of it. On Tuesday we went in for her standard vision and hearing screening and we got the same result, borderline. We're going to the optometrist again, but has anyone else had this scenario? Are there any disadvantages to the eyes if you use reading glasses with a 5-year-old whose eyes are still maturing?

I've googled a bit and can't find much, and she is starting to read now so I want to make it as easy as possible. I guess I want to figure out if we "wait and see" again if that's what the optometrist recommends, or whether it would be better to ask for glasses or do some eye exercises.

Thanks!
