Washer/Dryer recommendations (2400 watt inverter)

My task is to find a washer/dryer for an off-grid home. The starting motor must not draw a lot... it shouldn't use so much wattage. There is a 2400 watt inverter (although, 4000 is desirable, that is in the future) so we must stay within its limits.

If this doesn't make sense... tell me, because I'm learning and it's not too clear to me either. *lol* My DH just has given me the task with the above information... but, I know I forgot to mention something about DC.

What would you recommend?

Yes, I had previously seen the mothering.com forum on off-grid washers, but they didn't quite answer my question... even the Sears service and Kenmore couldn't answer my question. They asked me to call my local store, but I am very doubtful they even know (based on our experience when looking for a "special" stove for off-grid).

I'm not ready to do-it-myself... *lol*

There's got to be a way to find out starting motor wattage. Maybe someone here has a 2400 inverter and a washing machine they can start off that.
