playtime ideas

I'm 37 weeks pregnant and DH is out of country for 3 more weeks. DD has been wonderful, super easy taking care of her but our challenge right now is me taking care of the house, cooking and her. She constantly wants to play and I often have so much to do that I tell her I  can't :( It's making me feel terribly guilty. I'm looking for some new ideas for play that can be relaxing for me or not a lot of work.

She usually wants to do legos, puzzles, cook, which are terribly exhausting for me but she's getting bored with the same stuff. I don't want to make the TV the babysitter so I don't let her watch it often. any ideas??? She's 2 1/2

Try letting her 'help' you with your housework tasks, and give her the same sort of positive attention that you do when the two of you are playing together.  It will take you longer to do the tasks (for sure!) but it will be much more enjoyable than pushing her away, and she'll probably be really glad to feel like she's able to help.

We just put together a large container of dried beans with cups and scoops for sensory play.  DD, 27 months, loves this and will sit for a long time and play this if I'm sitting beside her.  I can leave her, but will have to clean up quite a few beans when she is done.  This is also a great activity for outside play in the summer.

i was just lurking here but i put together a bean box this afternoon. i think she'll like it and hopefully she won;t have to play with the dog food anymore. she can spend an hour just plunking the bits back and forth between the bowls.

Can you just let a lot of the housework slide for a while?  Like, do the bare minimum just to make your life easy?
