Where is my period?? :S

My baby is almost 14 months and I still haven't got my period back. :S We are trying for baby number 2 and this isn't going to be able to happen till my period returns.... IS there anything I can do???

subbing - ds is 9.5 months, and we want to start trying in the next few months, with no signs of AF or EWCM, just BIP for 8.5 months since the end of my lochial flow.  My DS is still almost EBF as he will only do BLW, completely refuses to be spoon-fed, but usually sleeps at least one 5-6 hr chunk at night.  Is there any hope for me either?

So I'm not an expert on this, but your post caught my attention because I really sympathize about the abbreviations!  I was totally lost the first few weeks I spent on the mothering.com forums!

AF = aunt flow, which is a nickname for a woman's menstrual period

EWCM = egg-white cervical mucus which is typically the kind of cervical mucus evident on your most fertile day(s).

BLW = baby-led weaning 

EBF = exclusively breast-fed

DS = dear son

The one thing that many people say is that cutting back on breastfeeding, particularly at night can help fertility.  However, every woman is different, so night-weaning may not help every woman trying to conceive.  For me, I started nursing less at night when my baby was 8 months and my periods came back then.  I haven't nightweaned completely but I typically nurse my baby to sleep and then not again until 4am or so.  Best wishes to you and your family as you try for number 2.
