squatting & heart defect

Thread Starter

My daughter is 15 months, has been walking for 1 month and squats sometimes.  Someone, with early childhood education,  saw her squatting and mentioned some children with congenital heart defects will squat to increase blood flow & rest.

I have found literature that says this is true.

I will check with the pedi at her 15 month well check, but i wonder if anyone here has experienced this.

What is "typical" toddler squatting as opposed to "resting" squatting? Is it how long & often they squat?  She seems to squat more  when over tired.

She will stand, walk & sit to play.

Would this be the only "symptom" or will the Pedi be able to hear something on exam?

I guess I'm getting ahead of myself a but I'd like to understand this a bit.

Thanks.

This sounds like totally normal toddler behavior.  Both of mine certainly squatted!  Also, congenital heart defects are usually picked up way earlier than 15 months - your ped has listened to her heart every visit checked her for a murmur, which I'm sure you would have heard about if she had.

I agree.
