Prepping for the 2011 Treasure Map - Page 3

A few years ago I was in a really brain cluttered time. Lots of stuff (fears) issues going on.  So, based on direction from my spiritual advisor she asked that I begin writing daily affirmations. I put together about six or seven of them and I wrote all of them about five times each every morning. I chose the morning but you can do them at any time of the day. Â
Â
Perhaps I have concerns about my job. I don't know if this is the right spot for me.   And it keeps going throgh my mind. Then I will write down an affirmation/treatment that goes something like,  "I am happy and grateful that I am always in the right job at the right time."    I know this probably seems counterintuitive if I'm thinking this is the wrong job then why am I writing something like that?  Because what I find is that even if it is the wrong job but I keep writing that I am always in the right job soon the right part of the situation will start to come apparent and from that I either shift the situation or I start to find a path out of it. A new opportunity will come.   Basically the affirmations start to settle the mind and from that a new way is found.

Â

one of my favorite mental cleaning exercises is a really simple energy therapy sort of thing, called "clearing your cortices"Â Â (that's just one, you could find others)....
Â
i also find clearing physical spaces really helps to clear mental/etc spaces.... sorting thru what's in your home sort of has parallels with what's in your mind, that can be helpful.
Â
i am a huge huge fan of floral essences. if that resonates with you, you might find one that helps you sort of clear the way for the TM time. there are two wonderful threads here on mdc about them (one here in spirituality), might be worth a pop-over and ask if anyone has favorite flowers to clear the mind for transformations...Â
Thank you for these responses - they are both SO helpful and give me some great ideas to try!

Â
I guess I missed Tracy's post about writing affirmations. Â So I'll def. do that to help with the relationships and for the fears I am having about which career path to take.
Â
BUTÂ
Â
It would be helpful to hear about some ways to express it on the TM other than affirmations..Something more specific I guess ..Doing this for the first time IYKWIM

of course if it can't be done in the first 3 days..then the period between new and full..(2 week window).
i googled treaure mapping, and i see that some people paint their pictures. has anyone done theirs that way in the past? i do like magazine pictures too, but how many magazines do you use? as for the process, do you acquire your materials well in advance (say, now) and then not touch them until april 3 - april 7 time period? is it worthwhile to start thinking about what to put on the map now? or is it better to just focus on cleaning/getting rid of stuff for the next six weeks or so, and then approach the project all at once on beginning april 3 and just sort of go with what comes to mind during that time frame?
Â
i'm a newbie. thanks!

welcome! you will love it! one of the coolest TM stories i've ever heard was a woman who painted hers. i added painted elements to mine last year, and that was kind of fun.Â
Â
the first and most important thing, tracy will say, is to NOT GET ANYTHING for your map til new moon has started. of course, others will say they've done it.... some have used paints they already had, for example, and just "cleansed" them on new moon. some grab the freebe mags at the libes, and cleanse them, BUT do NOT look thru them til then.... i think one person started saving all catalogs that came in the mail (again, NOT looking at them)..... many of us, i will say, find and use images online--either print, or some do just digital maps (think "desktop background")... i took photos for my first map, and that was amazing. and some people just write things.Â
Â
some people do think about stuff before.... but even if you do, you WILL find that you think possibly VERY differently about things once new moon starts..... some people JUST declutter and then get stuff and think once new moon starts.... i find it hard to NOT think about it at all.... i have this idea that i want to make tarot cards for mine this year, and i admit i've thought a bit about how i will do it.... but i do try to keep myself from thinking about it too much. the whole idea, ime/imo is to capture that new energy.... and having thought too much about it before can really keep me at least, from accessing that "newness" in a really authentic way.
Â
i know tracy and others will have loads more to share on these topics.......

i havent thrown away magazines for the last month. but i read them all thoroughly. i dont think that will work. i think the first day of the map making is the day i will go buy the stuff and look around for ideas. i am sure it will just come to me. and then the second day i will get all the stuff out and watch as it puts itself together. it creates itself out of the longing in my heart.
Â
that is how i did it last year. and almost everything has been answered. in a good way. and the year isnt over yet. so i am going to let the Universe take the lead. :)

I have actually saved magazines and catalogs until TM time, and "blessed" or cleansed them on Day One, but it's weird, like people have said, I "see" them differently during TM time than before TM time. Like even if I've read the articles, and then put them aside, I seem to "see" only pictures and phrases during TM time. It's kind of a shift of focus. Even with new ones, I have to deliberately not get caught up in, and distracted by, the articles, and just focus on phrases and pictures.
I do find that it works for me, saving them or setting them aside, but for the most part, I buy a couple of new ones, and on Day One, I also peruse the free bin at the library and the co-op. I rarely save things ahead, but it hasn't hindered my maps any. And yes, I think of things ahead of time, and even write down possible ideas and themes, but yes, they do change with the shift of energy.

Do any of you have tips for this preparatory phase that you'd be willing to share? I've already started on my house, but what about the internal clutter? That's where I'm really struggling right now, and I think it's what's causing my household clutter, too. What kinds of things can I do to begin clearing my mental/spiritual/emotional space?Â
Â
I started meditating a while back, felt really good and it was clearly a good thing for me (and then stopped--yeah, not the best plan there). But this is the perfect time to get back to it and make it a habit that sticks, I think it'll be good for giving my brain room to think and feel beyond the daily stuff. Though I love affirmations too, most of the words on my TM from last year were affirmations that I wrote. I guess it's a good time to get back into that habit, too.Â
Â
Also very helpful, I have a coffee table that's been weighing on me for, well, too long. And financial paperwork to be filed.

I tend toward being a planner and a list-maker, so I wrote down some general ideas in the 9-square pattern, and then ended up completely discarding several of them, just didn't feel motivated to include them in my TM at all. Some stuff, though, has been of interest long-term and I kept and it still resonates. I know some feel it's important to buy new magazines, and maybe someday I'll feel compelled to do that, but at least for this past year, the new-to-me magazines seemed fine.Â
Â
For my first TM, I picked up free travel brochures and free magazines right at the very time we were to start. I purchased just one magazine. I mostly used fabric and sewed a lot of that TM (paper and fabric) and I used a few glue dots. I still have that TM up because it is a work of art to me. The design is something I am drawn to create over and over in many ways. I didn't plan to do that design in advance, though. The only thing I planned in advance was to pick up as much free stuff as possible (new) at the correct time and I knew I wanted to do a free-flowing bagua style TM. The rest just came to me spur of the moment and I went with it. SO FUN AND EXCITING!!!
Â
For my second TM, I didn't buy anything. I was doing a compact last year where I spent as little as possible on new stuff. The goal was to use things up, wear things out, be creative finding a substitute, and make do without. I used a giant stencil I had owned, but never used and then used watercolor pencils for most of my TM. It was like painting in watercolors, but with more control. I didn't plan any of that in advance. I only knew in advance that I wanted to try using the chakras as a guide for that TM with some overlap of the baguas. I LOVE HOW IT TURNED OUT!!!
Â
I haven't given any of this year's TM any thought yet. I haven't even put the "event" in my calendar, but soon...
Â
My maps manifested right up to the last day each year thus far. I love TMs!!!
i started some long overdue clean outs. i went through our tupperware plastic wear and have put together a large quantity to donate to our AWANA group. also cleaned out the bottom of the kitchen buffet. still have two drawers in the buffet to do, though.
Â
did someone say we are in a good time for clean outs? i would love to make it through the entire house with clean out energy. but it is going to take some time. i don't know that six weeks will be enough time. is it better to do some things thoroughly and completely, or to do a mediocre job at "everything"? i'm thinking the former, since it was truly a great feeling and freeing to have those parts of the kitchen DONE DONE, instead of continuing to hang over my head.

Â
i like to explore ideas before hand. but i try not to dwell on them or make concrete plans. this year, the saved mag's are feeling wrong. so i recycled them. i will use the new mags i get in the mail, buy a couple more, or whatever comes to mind.
Â
already started on the decluttering. starting by clearing out some of the food i cant eat. then moving on to other stuff i dont need or want here. baby clothes i am supposed to be giving away. etc. clean and clear is a great way to start off another year of self improvement. i love the cleaning part as much as the making maps part. :)
