Newborn Diapers ~ Side Snapping or Front Snapping?

Do you prefer side snapping or front snapping diapers for a newborn?  I'm making my newborn/small stash and I'm just not sure which to go with.  I'll have both side snap and front snap covers in PUL and wool and will be using primarily fitteds.

Most of the newborn diapers that I have looked at online are front snapping and I guess I'm wondering if it is easier to use front snaps on such a tiny babe.  I didn't start using cloth with my oldest until he was a few months old, and although I used cloth with my second child I used FBs in the beginning.  I eventually switched to fitteds and wool covers, and really preferred side snapping diapers at that point.  I'm sure I will make some of both styles, but I would prefer not to make too many side-snapping diapers if they are going to be more difficult to get on a newborn.  Help!

I personally didn't like side snaps for any size. I'd go with front snaps.

I've got some dream-eze AIO's in size small, they'll probably fit within the first month (maybe even first couple weeks) on my baby since I have big kids. I can't imagine it would be a real problem? Either should work.

I also don't like side snapping, at all - on any diaper. It is just awkward to snap IMO.

And I'm the opposite of the pps - I hate front snapping dipes.  But my guy couldn't fit into front snapping dipes for the first almost year - his legs were so skinny that even with the snaps as tight as they could be across his tummy, the legs were gaping.

Side snaps don't have that problem because you can set different snap settings for legs and tummy.  Even now at 16 mos, his side-snapping fit him best because of that.

Thanks everyone!  Since it doesn't seem like side-snapping will be an issue with a newborn I'm going to make most of them that way.  I vastly prefer side-snapping dipes on older babies and toddlers, and like Cristeen said you can get such a better fit on the legs with side-snapping.  That has to be a benefit with a newborn and the likely chicken legs!
