Is breast feeding safe while you are pregnant?!?

I have recently found out that I am about 1 month along.  I have a 2yo that still nurses during her nap times and at night.  I have been told that nursing while you are pregnant increases your chances of miscarriage.  I really dont have to have to ween my 2yo, but if I have to then that is what I will do.  Any suggestions??? headscratch.gif

I don't have any studies to quote, but I don't think that breastfeeding increases your chance for miscarriage at all.

Here's one anecdote: I got pregnant with number 2 just after our first's second birthday. I nursed all through the pregnancy with no issues.

Actually, here's a link to a bunch of links about breastfeeding while pregnant (kellymom).

Congratulations on your pregnancy and welcome to MDC!

It is completely safe for most women.  Here is a great resource: http://kellymom.com/nursingtwo/faq/index.html

Yes, it is safe to breastfeed during pregnancy. The idea that it causes miscarriage is an outdated myth.
