advertisements

Thread Starter

I'm really finding the advertisements to be excessively annoying, distracting, and otherwise making me want to not be anywhere near them (read: I have to leave the site to get away from them).

The Bieber one is on the top of my "annoying" list. It also makes the rest of the site slow to load.

Is there a way to make them stop? Or at least stop flashing?!

Hi, Sarah! Thanks for your feedback. Advertisements are what keep MDC free and the information available, but I definitely understand your perspective and appreciate your taking the time to let us know.

Due to our advertising contracts, we're not supposed to be hosting public discussion of particular ads. If there's a particular ad that you finds particularly offensive, we ask that members take the following steps:

How do I report inappropriate ads?
Please send an email to administrator@mothering.com. We appreciate your help! When contacting us regarding an ad, including the following information will help us be as responsive as possible:

  • URL/link to the website
  • Name of the company/product
  • Location of ad on page (top, right, bottom)
  • Reason content is inappropriate
  • Screenshot (if you can provide)

Since we participate in advertising networks, as much as we try, we're not always able to ensure that the ad content is appropriate for the community so we really appreciate members letting us know about "bad" ads.

As far as removing the ads, MDC offers an "Ad-free" paid subscription whereby the ads can be removed from the viewing experience:

Please email or PM me if there's anything specific ad-related that you'd like to discuss. Thanks so much for your help, and I hope that you'll stick around!
