Looking for an online Montessori "course" to use with my HS 4y.o. DS?(x-post)

We have decided to HS my 4 y.o. DS. Although I will take an eclectic approach to HS'ing, I want to have a heavy lean toward Montessori. I am looking for an online "course" to learn how to teach Montessori. I don't care about getting certification. I just would like some useful direction in how to properly implement lessons as well as to gain an understanding of the scope and sequence in Montessori. Most importantly, I need it to be affordable!

Again, I am only going to be using at home with my son. I can probably get along on my own with downloading free geography, science, practical life, etc. but I have a bare bones understanding of Mont. Language (I have found some great resources that have allowed me to do fairly well with it so far) but am not familiar with Montessori Math at all.

I ran across Karen Tyler's program as well as Lisa Nolan's materials. Does anyone have any opinions about either of them (their materials for the price)? Are there any other programs I should check out? Any suggestions or even any Montessori homeschooling advice is welcome! thumbsup.gif

Thanks!

It was always my intention to homeschool using the Montessori Method but we haven't really implemented much in the way of staying true to the Method.  That being said I read a lot about the Montessori Method and have quite a bit of Montessori Materials.  I highly recommend David Gettman's Basic Montessori Learning Activities for Under Fives.  This book contains some background on the Montessori Method in the first section and the rest of the book is grouped by the following categories Practical, Sensorial, Language, Math and Culture.  In each of the sections it gives activities in sequential order and each of the activities lists the purpose, materials needed, preparation and the presentation.

Some other things I recommend:

- keep toys/materials easily accessible and organized - like on low shelves

- if you are crafty and want to make materials, you can find directions on the internet

- if you want to buy materials look for used and if you decide to spend the money on new research the company first

HTH!

You can read books about it. I have read a lot about Montessori. You would be interested in books on Waldorf and Charlotte Mason too. The library has a lot so you don't need to throw a bunch of money at it either.

This is supposed to be a reading program based on Mont principles. Best of all it's free. My 3 yo asks to play with the duck. I'm not too sure of it yet, but he likes it and that's fine by me.
