Restless Leg Syndrome or Itch attack?

I have always been an "itchy twitchy" person - even as a kid sometimes it was hard to get to sleep - I would get what I always described as "chasing itch" - I would scratch where I thought the itch was but only to have it reappear somewhere else on my body. It would drive me crazy. I know, weird. During my pregnancies I have noticed the itchiness come and go more often, especially at night. Tonight it is 1:14 am and I am unable to even lie down. I feel like bugs are crawling on me. Not to mention baby's nightly kicking. ITching mainly on my legs and feet but also arms and back. Is there ANYTHING that can be used to relax such as teas, etc.?

I have restless leg syndrome and it gets way way worse in pregnancy. Mine is slightly different feeling to me, but probably about as annoying. Mine feels like bugs crawling under my skin but I wouldn't describe it as itchy, more of just a really uncomfortable sensation that I have to move my arms or legs to get rid of. You know how you can randomly get goosebumps and it seems to wash over your body? It's kind of like that but not in a pleasant way. I seem to get it in my arms more than my legs, and for me it peaks around 26 weeks pregnant when I'm the most anemic. Apparently anemia can trigger RLS. Anyway, taking yellowdock and iron helps me immensely, and I have heard taking cal/mag supplements can also help (didn't really do anything for me).

I have this now that I am preg. and it is annoying.  However my legs jump pretty consistent with it in the evenings right before bed and right after drifting off and it keeps me awake.  The good thing is that DH has been giving me leg rubs each night with Jajoba oil and that works wonders!  I actually don't have problems on the nights he does it, but if I fall asleep early and it doesn't get done I can forget about a good nights rest. You could try that.

I get restless legs so bad that my legs will jerk and jump around while I am trying to sleep. What helps for me is a heaping 1/2 tsp of Natural Calm powdered magnesium dissolved in a cup of hot water that I drink right before bed. :)
