Perineum bleeding :(

Several times when I've changed my son's diaper (9.5 months) in the last week his perineum---between the scrotum and anus--is bleeding.  Any ideas on what would be causing this?  We cloth diaper, if that makes any difference.  It isn't a ton of blood but there's definitely some on his diaper and it's extremely irritated.  He's not super mobile yet so he spends a lot of time sitting and I think it's bothering him.  Poor little guy. :(

Could it have started as a fissure? My DS had them from explosive stools for a while.

If the area is very irritated and dry the skin can crack too. It's like chapped lips.

As much as I hate using any diaper ointments sometimes they really work for a temperary problem like this.

If the urine and poop are touching rubbing against this area it can get infected.

I also dont like pamper type diapers, but when there is a rash brewing or something like this, I use them for a few days.
