4yo hitting preschool teacher??

Hi there!
My 4yo DS has been hitting his preschool teacher lately and I don't know what to do to help their relationship. DS loves his teacher, but seems to have a violent reaction to her redirecting him. I think it's gotten to the point where it's a vicious cycle of her expecting this behavior and him fulfilling that expectation. We've tried behavior charts, time outs, even picking him up from school early when he hits (which breaks his heart since he loves school so much!)

DS was diagnosed with SPD a year ago and has been in OT since. His teachers are aware of his sensory issues, but I don't think they really get it. We are hoping that he qualifies for the special needs preschool in our area (evaluation results meeting is tomorrow) but I'm looking for ideas on how to help him in the school he's in. I'm afraid that he won't qualify for the new school and that he'll be asked to leave this one.
I'm at a loss, and any suggestions would be really helpful. Thanks in advance!

When ds had is OT evaluation I had her write the report with the school in mind; the report included a section on what could be done in school to help him.

Fingers crossed for you that he qualifies for a SN preschool, it seems counterproductive to keep him where his needs are misunderstood.  My DS is a marshmallow but can get crabby, I find myself apologizing sometimes and the teachers are always "Pffffft!  PLEASE!" because they've experienced and are ready to deal with so much more.  Maybe the OT could suggest a school?
