The main problem with trying to read MDC and knit at the same time, is that you will inevitably make a serious mistake, and not notice for like ten rows, and then have to pull out those rows and fix it. And then not three minutes later, you'll make the same mistake, and have to do it AGAIN. And as if that wasn't enough, not long after you'll forget you were meant to be binding off, and suddenly catch yourself merrily knitting along...
