Very concerned: gave Hib to 2 yr old and now realize he was ill at time of vax

I took my 2 yr old ds to his well baby today and planned on getting his first dose of hib.  He did a delayed schedule of dtap and delayed of pc.  We only do one vax at a time, spread far apart.

Today, while going through the apt, I kind of noticed that he felt a bit warm.  But he's not sick very often, and had the tummy flu about a week and a half ago. It didn't really dawn on me that he might be getting sick.  I asked the doc to take his temp, and she agreed, but we both started talking about other things and forgot.  The nurse came in, gave the hib, then I remembered that i wanted his temp.  At that point, he was obviously upset and didn't want anything to do with the nurse, so I said forget it, not really thinking anything of his slight warmth.  When I got home (about an hour later) he was really flushed and clingy.  He was obviously warm then.  Thinking back to the before his apt, I remembered that he fell asleep on the way there (unusual for him to want to sleep at 9:30am) and was fussy/whiny in the waiting room.

I'm very concerned that he was developing a virus before I gave him the shot.  Thoughts?  Anything I can do to bolster his immune system? We just nursed, I gave him ibu, and he's in bed now.  Thoughts? Experiences?

TIA.

Forgot to add: when I did take his temp a little while ago, it was 104.1 rectally.  He's been very upset, crying about his leg hurting, and generally just a dishrag on my lap....

I can't believe it's not standard procedure to take the temperature before giving a vaccine. It seems that the nurse should have checked the chart for the temperature before giving the vaccine. But I have no experience with this, because my kids have never gotten a vaccine. But still, it seems like a huge oversight on their part.

Even if the temp had been taken and it was elevated, they would (if you allowed) have given it anyway. low to moderate fever is not a contraindication to vaccinating.

The 104 temp could be from the fact that he was sick to begin with or from the vaccine itself.

I would be giving him lots of SA (vit c), probiotics, zinc, Vit d and for a while until he is better Vit A drops. Hope he feels better soon.
