New blender or new juicer?

Can you help me proiritize my purchases?

Blender: Currently using a blender base with mason jars. We've gone through a lot of blenders over the years. This one the motor hasn't died yet but the canister did break. It works but it's a pain to add extra ingredients to a jar.

Juicer: The juicer I bought at a garage sale 5 years ago works alright. The pulp is really wet and you can almost make a salad with the leftover leafy bits. I don't think it was meant to juice leafy greens.

We don't have an immersion blender or a food processor.

We're a family of 5, vegan and make pretty much everything from scratch. Nut base sauces are never smooth. I like to juice veggies and leafy greens, I don't care for smoothies much.

Reading that, it sounds like not only should I get a blender and a juicer but a food processor would be useful... I can't seem to make up my mind!

I can't quite cough up the cash for a vitamix, but I have seen them in action. If that's an option for you, that's my vote too.

The nice thing about a vitamix is that it basically does what all the others do: blending, juicing, processing. So if you're going to get one of each, you might just save up for the one machine. I know they're very expensive...I'd been wanting one for a long time.

I got a vitamix and am using a nutmilk bag to strain out the fiber so I can make juices.

You can check out craigslist for an older model of vitamix- i'm sure it works just as good eat.gif

Great idea about using a nutmilk bag to make juices with a blender! I sold my juicer to get a Blendtec (Vitamix's competition 2whistle.gif) and use it every.single.day. I borrowed my sister's juicer, though, because carrots in the blender make me gag with all the fiber & pulp.

I vote for blender, as well.
