Cue sounds for a 22mth old?

I did not do EC with my first.  He is now 22 mths and we are trying to potty train him.  He will sometimes sit on the potty chair when I ask him if he wants to, but then doesn't go.  He also just wants to sit and sit, even though he's not going.  Is there a cue or trick I can do to get him to go?

Also, I can read his cues for pooping - he generally hides or stands still for a while.  But he won't let me put him on the potty to go.  If I do get him on the potty, he stops going until I put his diaper back on.

Is he just not ready or are there little EC trics I can do to get him to go on the potty?  Not sure if this should be in EC or potty training.

Google Raising Rocco potty training and read that over. That is very much like what we did when my first was 17.5 months old. We had him naked waist down so we could see right away when he was going. Also, I have noticed that when my boys need to go their penis starts to stick out a bit. In The Diaper Free Baby there is also helpful stuff written for older children. I borrowed it from our library. He responded really well to what we did and is in underwear day and night with little to no accidents and has been for months. He turns 2 next friday. We didn't do a "cue" per se, but when I put him on I do ask him to try to pee. Because he is older he understands a lot more so just talking about it with him worked fine smile.gif We also learned his cues much more easily with him naked as we could observe what he would do just before going much better. He now does a little crouchy potty dance when he needs to go if he has clothes on (he isn't really verbal yet) or will just go sit on the little potty when he has a naked butt. Good luck!
