I have half a block of organic, firm tofu and am going out of town and won't be able to use it quickly enough. I'd hate for it to go to waste, so my question is -- can you freeze tofu??
Input much appreciated!
was this muppet brain recipe meant to be eaten? if so how did you season it?
Absolutely. Like the other ladies mentioned, it does change the texture, making it more firm and receptive to holding a marinade. Easier to slice also.
I throw the whole package in the freezer. When you need it, place in microwave for 7 minutes. If you don't use a microwave, remove from package
after purchase and place in freezer bag or wrap in plastic. When needed, unwrap and place in pot of boiling water. Remove from heat. Either way, squeeze
gently before using.
One of my favorite snacks is made from the tofu at this point. Cut into small cubes and saute in olive oil, tamari and garlic powder. Allow to brown a bit before
turning. That's it! Great high protein snack or salad topping.
